A total of three railway lines belong to the Harz narrow-gauge railways (HSB), namely the Harzquerbahn, the Brockenbahn and the Selketalbahn. The Selketalbahn is the origin of the Harz narrow-gauge railways and was opened in 1887. It is the oldest narrow-gauge railway in the Harz and is closely linked to industrialization, but also to the tourist development of the Selketal. The Selketal itself is characterized by a romantic landscape characterized by rugged cliffs, flowering meadows and extensive beech and oak forests. It is therefore not surprising that the Selketalbahn is considered one of the most popular sections of the Harz narrow-gauge network. One station that belongs to the Selketalbahn is Hasselfelde station. Hasselfelde is a district of the town of Oberharz am Brocken and can be reached via the Selketalbahn network from Nordhausen, Gernrode and Quedlinburg. Picturesque landscapes, narrow-gauge railways and of course steam locomotives from the Harz narrow-gauge railways have particularly appealed to the members of the Belgian model railway club "Pacific" from Roeselare in the province of West Flanders, so they have constructed a beautiful, approximately 6 x 3 meter model railway layout that represents the entire length of the Hasselfelde station on the Selketalbahn around 1990. The model railway was built in H0m (narrow gauge) scale according to the original. In keeping with the era depicted, freight traffic is also represented as it still took place during the GDR era. The tracks were built by the owner using material from "Hobby-Ecke Schuhmacher". All of the buildings on the model railway layout were built by the owner. Only the Hasselfelde station building comes from a cardboard kit by Walfried Fehse, better known as "MaKaMo" (model sheet design). The landscape, vehicles and many details, such as lanterns and telegraph poles, were designed using the product range of the Polish manufacturer "KLUBA". Products and models from "MBRmodel", "Martin Welberg" and "Micro Miners" (mining and vehicle models from the GDR) are also used on the model layout. The wonderful steam locomotives are self-built or come from the manufacturer "Weinert-Modellbau". The steam locomotives are also equipped with sound decoders from Zimo. Passenger cars and freight cars come partly from Weinert and Tillig. Some freight cars are made of brass and come from the so-called "Lok-Schlosserei" (Melzer Modellbau).
