The regular audio podcast HOVORY O DUŠI is based on the documentary series LIFE BEHIND THE WALLS, intended for people with untreated or poorly treated anxiety and depression. It features interviews with our leading psychiatrists, psychologists, neurologists and other experts about the origin, manifestations and treatment of mental illness. The guest of Conversations about the soul is professor of medical psychology, clinical psychologist and psychotherapist Radek Ptáček, who works as a researcher at the Psychiatric Clinic of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of the UK and VFN. He is also a university teacher, chairman of the Clinical and Medical Psychology Section of the Psychiatric Society of the ČLS JEP and an expert in the fields of clinical psychology, psychology and pedagogy. Professor Ptáček completed training in psychodynamic psychiatry, as well as a specialization course in EEG biofeedback and neurophysiology or in clinical hypnosis. The podcast will mainly talk about the relationship between the patient and the doctor, the quality of which is directly reflected in the course and outcome of the treatment. In the interview, you will learn more about why it is difficult for doctors to ask for psychological or psychiatric help, as well as about the reasons that lead many health professionals to stigmatize patients with mental illness. We will also touch on the topic of secondary gains arising from the disease, but also the often long road to recovery, when it is necessary to step out of the role of victim, accept responsibility for one's health and learn to take the diagnosis impersonally. We will also talk about the principles of real destigmatization of people with mental illness and lifestyle medicine.
