180 kilometers of lovely nature, magnificent views and plenty of oxygen! That's what awaits cyclists who travel along the Baltic Sea Cycle Route from Lübeck-Travemünde to Rostock. Interesting people with fascinating stories live and work along this route. These include, for example, a border crosser on the Priwall who pushed his old bike through the Baltic Sea waters immediately after the fall of the Berlin Wall: from the Federal Republic of Germany to the GDR and back. Two schoolboys from Barendorf who help a traveling baker who bakes fresh cakes right on the Baltic Sea Cycle Route. A thoroughbred bicycle restorer without a license. A ferry boat captain on the Salzhaff who drops pedestrians and cyclists off directly in the water because there is no mooring in the reeds. Environmentalists who deliver bat nesting boxes to the forest on sleek cargo bikes are also part of the event, as is a moped-riding artist in Kühlungsborn and her neighbor, a pelvic-leg-bottom specialist for cyclists. And at the destination in Rostock, a cycle path attendant ensures that the paths are free of broken glass and pushes loose sand out of slippery curves. But there is plenty to talk about.
