Today we are driving line 950 with a new route. We are driving from Niederrath to Duisberg-Kleinbaum Kreisel with a Mercedes Benz Citaro C2G. Line 950 also offers another route where the journey time is around 90 minutes. Krefrath is a medium-sized district town on the Lower Rhine and close to the Ruhr area and Bergisches Land. The city of 100,000 inhabitants has largely survived the structural change following the decline of heavy industry. Many old industrial plants have made way for new urban development conditions. Nevertheless, there are still individual active companies spread across the city area. The high industrial density at the time in particular made the city and railway infrastructure what it is in many places today. But the city has also managed to keep up with the times thanks to new facilities such as a technical college or a Bundesliga regatta track. Public transport is provided by SWK (Stadtwerke Krefrath GmbH) with the support of subcontractors. These travel via the main train station to all parts of the city, across the Rhine and to the immediate neighboring cities. But the less populated outskirts of the city and the villages in the surrounding area are also served by bus lines. Even at night, thanks to night bus lines that run in staggered routes, local transport does not come to a standstill. In addition, e-buses are also used at peak times, which take students to their schools and employees to and from their companies.
