On Saturday, November 30, 2024, our group set off to the Strážovské vrchy Mountains again. Our goal was five viewpoints. The icing on the cake was Starý háj, but especially Omšenská baba, which majestically towers over the village of Omšenie. The first steps after parking in front of the COOP Jednota Supermarket led along the blue nature trail ending at Starý háj. The initial long climb to the ridge led us to the first viewpoint, Kamenné vráta. On the way to Starý háj, we could not forget to visit the Sokolovica viewpoint. The next path led to the majestic rocky Starý háj, where we spent about twenty minutes relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views. The following steps led first to a steep descent and then to a pleasant meadow and after about three kilometers we climbed to the iconic Omšenská baba. We also took a half-hour break to relax and enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding area. By the way, during the entire route we also saw our previous destination, which was Baské Hill. We walked for a while along the ridge, which is also the red Route of the Heroes of the Slovak National Uprising. In a place called Bartošovica, we turned off for a moment to see the last, fifth viewpoint on our route. The final part of the journey was a pleasant downhill and interesting because we also went under the towering Omšenská baba. It was a wonderfully spent sunny Saturday with excellent weather in the Strážovské vrchy Mountains. I highly recommend this short and easy route. I am sure you will not regret it.
