Brave Heart in Ireland, Nemanjići in Serbia The people who filmed the movie Brave Heart wanted to film the very exciting siege of York in Trim Castle in the east of Ireland. It was one of many pitfalls for the producers of this film, but for Trim it was a turning point. It became world famous among tourists. Ireland has a very rich cultural heritage, almost every city has some medieval building. In some of them, scientific conferences, school classes, exhibitions, and filming are held. National monuments are taken care of by the state agency that manages cultural heritage, i.e. all monuments, at the level of the whole country. When it comes to Serbia, there is no central institution that manages cultural heritage. Monument protection measures are taken care of by institutes for the protection of monuments, and it is up to local self-governments to revive a fortress. In practice, there is no money, so no one cares about the numerous medieval fortresses. Is the experience of the Serbian Middle Ages interesting for tourists, can Serbian fortresses be used as a place where school classes are held, scientific meetings, places where films are shot.
