The world's largest archaeogenetic research project is taking place with a Hungarian lead role, in which complete family trees and social networks are now visible based on hundreds of Avar-era graves. Why is this interesting? Why did the Avar empire fall? Is there a Hun-Avar-Hungarian relationship? We discuss these questions with Zsófia Rácz, associate professor of the Migration and Medieval Archeology Department of ELTE BTK, and Gergelly Szenthe, head of the Department of Archeology at the Hungarian National Museum. Host: Barna Borbás. ❗ With this podcast, we say goodbye to the prehistoric Válasz Offline, as we will soon be pulling the covers off the third issue of our magazine series, which will be published at the beginning of December. 🏹 Our page dealing with prehistoric history can be purchased here: https://www.valaszonline.hu/webshop/ 🔴 Our podcast is crowdfunded.
