He was born in May 1990 in the village of Hafik Beykonağı in Sivas. He spent the most colorful times of his childhood in the village. His first encounter with music was with the highland migration tradition that took place in his village and the work folk songs sung within the collaborative culture. He spent his primary education in Alibeyköy and then his middle school and high school years in Pendik, Istanbul. Influenced by both Alevi Bektaşi music in his twenties and, due to the political climate of the period, protest music, Okan Erbaş was a performer in both areas for a long time. After 2012, he continued his interest in protest music and his work in many music groups until today. He showed a more detailed orientation towards Anatolian music after entering the Conservatory in 2013.
