The Cabinet is launching an attack on criminal motorcycle gangs. Minister Opstelten of Security wrote this to the House of Representatives today. The Tax and Customs Administration, the police, mayors and the Public Prosecution Service will work closely together to tackle the crime and nuisance caused by the gangs. The Cabinet is talking about so-called outlaw bikers, who are guilty of crime, drug trafficking, extortion and intimidation, arms trafficking, threats and violence. Minister Opstelten does not mention any names, such as Hells Angels and Satudarah. This should make it much more difficult for criminal motorcycle clubs to organise meetings and to build a clubhouse somewhere. VVD Member of Parliament Jeanine Hennis Plasschaert is a supporter of Minister Opstelten's plans and is pleased that a united front is finally being formed against the criminal motorcycle gangs. However, chairman of motorcycle club Satudarah, Henk Kuipers, believes that motorcycle clubs are being criminalised unfairly.
