NIKITA BOATS - Michalis Angelakis report from Nautiko salon 2021 Nikitas Angelakis begins his professional career in 1954, where, graduating from the Royal Schools of Leros Island, he builds and sells his first wooden boat at the time in Sitia, Crete, where he comes from. Later, he will work close to big names, such as Psaros and Glaros and then he will build small and large wooden boats, mainly speedboats. He starts his professional career in 1954, where, graduating from the Royal Schools of Leros Island, he builds and sells his first wooden boat in Sitia, Crete, where he comes from. In 1964 he builds large speedboats, whose hulls are made of marine plywood and covered with fiberglass, laying the foundations for the construction of polyester boats. In 1967 he manufactures a series of traditional boats, which are produced exclusively from fiberglass. In 1988, his son Michalis Angelakis, who has studied free drawing and design, enters the field and together they build a series of high-speed boats, which have become just as well known, as the watercraft had become two decades before. In 1994 NIKITA SHIPYARDS moved to privately owned facilities in Koropi, where they operate until today. Of course, it is worth mentioning that NIKITA SHIPYARDS has taken part in many exhibitions in Greece and abroad, but also that they have participated in all the nautical salons that have been organized since 1978 until today. Since 2011, Nikitas Angelakis retires and withdraws from NIKITA Shipyards, while Michalis Angelakis takes over the business. Thus, NIKITA SHIPYARDS pass into the second generation and continue to work to this day with consistency and passion on small polyester boats known throughout Greece, but also abroad.
