This evening belonged to associations from different parts of Prague. We looked at what civic associations we have in Prague and what topics they are dedicated to. Representatives of the associations presented their activities in the form of brief presentations in the Pecha Kucha style in the field of environmental protection in the city, adaptation to climate change and other topics of city development. Are you interested in what issues they solve? What are they doing well and what are they not doing well? And how much does the city (not) support them? What works and what would they recommend changing? The following spoke at the Prague associations' night: ČSOP Natura quo vadis? / Our Malešice – Tomáš Klouček will present the history of the association, which is dedicated to environmental education and awareness and will say a few sentences about the upcoming year of Ekofest. This is a festival of ecological organizations of all directions, focuses and forms. Holešovičky for people – Tomáš Fiedrich will explain how to plant fruit trees correctly so that they take root and last. And then there is the story of the Hercovka park – a park and playground that citizens have been asking the city hall to take care of for so long, in vain, that they finally take care of it themselves. Libóza Community Garden – Petra Ráchel Beránková will tell you why the LIBÓZA Community Garden is the outdoor living room of Libóza. It serves not only for gardening, but also for meetings (neighborhood breakfasts, Christmas carol singing) and as an open-air venue. How was LIBÓZA born and what makes it unique? Krásné Kobylisy – Jan Vocel will present the activities of the association, which participates in the adaptation of the housing estate to climate change, for example through planting trees or creating projects for blue-green infrastructure, such as a study of capturing rainwater from prefabricated houses, which could then be used to irrigate the surrounding public space. MetroFarm – Štěpán Říha will present the activities of Metrofarm, which currently operates community gardens and urban farms at three locations in Prague. He will talk about the relatively short history of how what was originally a community garden became a larger community agriculture project on city land, and will also mention plans for the near future. Let's Wake Up Nusle – Petr Štádler will summarize the activities of the association, which, in addition to dozens of community and cultural events a year, focuses its efforts on cultivating public space. It takes care of a publicly accessible community garden, pushes for better maintenance of streets and greenery, runs street gardening, fights for crossings, sidewalks and cycling measures, promotes projects in a participatory budget and installs raised flower beds in the streets. Anti-fence – The Anti-fence Association focuses on protecting urban greenery in Troja and Bohnice. Petr Kalla will present cases such as the planned construction of a Kaufland opposite the Botanical Garden or an "eco-center" with a parking lot in a natural park. You will learn about the pressures to change the zoning plan and the long-term fight against development projects that threaten the Troja Basin. Rethink architecture – Rethink Architecture is a non-profit organization that wants to inspire, educate and connect architects, experts and building investors to create sustainable buildings, neighborhoods and cities. Miluše Kozlíčková will briefly summarize who RA is, its vision, mission and values, as well as how it works. She will present current activities that can help not only Prague, but also other municipalities, companies and individuals to improve common public space and at the same time adapt to climate change. Rokytka is alive – Monika Domincová will present an initiative from the largest development district of Prague, where new apartments are replacing old industrial areas. In the middle of this brownfield is a gem – the Rokytka biocorridor, and in its meander there were gardens from the post-war years. However, these are largely buildable. It started with a petition to save the last piece of these gardens, now the association has been active for several years and has gained valuable experience that it can pass on to other initiatives. Union Břevnov – Radovan Vrba tells us that when more people come together with shared determination, passion and perseverance, things can happen – for example, the playground under the Strahov Television Tower, which had been falling into oblivion for a quarter of a century and was to be permanently destroyed by a change in the zoning plan, can be transformed into a building site. The roots of Union Břevnov are in the neighborhood community and in this spirit – as a place for non-performance football and neighborhood meetings – they continue.
