#ndr #ndrdoku #farmhouse Northern Germany's farmhouses: For centuries they were the homes of the poor rural population. Today they are sought-after gems and are experiencing a boom like never before, with plenty of room for new ideas, concepts and creativity. Just like Sandra and Alexander Reichenberger, who, after successful years as tax consultants, want to make a new start in their careers with their very own idea of farming. For Carolin Pleus, who runs the Kräuterhof Rosen in Emsland, innovative gastronomy concepts and old history go hand in hand. Real experts in the conversion of old houses, on the other hand, are Yannik Bäker and Martin Hugenberg, who live out their passion for half-timbering with their carpentry business. As different as they are, they are united by one idea: a love of the old farmhouses and the desire to breathe new life into the buildings. The film follows the protagonists through a summer full of challenges and repeatedly delves into the now almost forgotten history of the farmhands, some of whom lived and worked until the 1960s under conditions that are almost unimaginable today. As so-called moonlight farmers, they usually only found time to till their own small fields when they had finished their work for the farmer in the evening.
