The Ir. DF Woudagemaal is the largest still operational steam pumping station in the world ever built.[1] The pumping station is located in Lemmer near Tacozijl in Friesland. It is used on average once a year, during periods of heavy rain and wind, to keep the Frisian inland water at the required level when the JL Hoogland pumping station near Stavoren cannot supply sufficient capacity due to circumstances.
