(now Royal Host), he was first elected to the Sakai City Council in 1993. He served as a Sakai City Council member for six terms, 19 years. After serving as vice-chairman, he became the 76th chairman of the Sakai City Council. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2012. He has been elected four times since then. He has served as the Diet Affairs Committee Chairman, the party's Secretary-General, and the party's co-chair. In 2022, he became the party's leader. Completed the Kennedy School at Harvard University in the United States. After working at the Ministry of Finance, he ran for the House of Representatives in 2005 but was defeated.
