Alla Fiera dell'Est is a musical nursery rhyme, often described as “timeless”, by Angelo Branduardi. Behind the apparent lightness of the text lies a notable cultural depth, a distinctive element of the singer's entire artistic production. The song is inspired, in fact, by the song “del Chad Gadya”, (a goat – a musical piece with a cumulative structure), usually sung during the dinner that marks the beginning of the Jewish Passover. The ten subjects of the nursery rhyme metaphorically represent characters and episodes of the ancient history of Israel narrated in the Bible.
