Advanced engineering that made the impossible possible Incheon Bridge, the longest cable-stayed bridge in Korea with a sea section of 12.3km. Fog and wind are also obstacles to bridge construction. The average monthly work days are only 20, and the conditions are harsh. Various cutting-edge engineering techniques were used in the construction of Incheon Bridge, such as the Fast Track method, in which design and construction are done simultaneously, and the FSLM (Full Span Launching Method), in which the ultra-large deck required for bridge construction is manufactured on land in advance and used for bridge construction. 2. Changing the history of bridges in Korea The height of the main tower, which is the core of Incheon Bridge, reaches 238.5m. It is close to the height of the 63 Building in Yeouido and is much taller than the main towers of Seohae Bridge and Yeongjong Bridge. Various cutting-edge technologies were used to build this main tower, such as rapid construction using automatic rising formwork and high-pressure concrete conveying equipment before the concrete hardens. There are people who only work at night The total length of the cable-stayed bridge cables of Incheon Bridge is 53km, the longest in Korea. Although the thickness of a single cable is only 9.7cm to 15.3cm, it is designed to be sturdy enough to withstand a weight of 2,000 tons. The cable-stayed bridge cable construction and deck construction are carried out simultaneously on the east and west main towers and meet in the middle of the sea. An important technology at this time is linear control. It is the most important technology because the tension applied to the cables and the location of the deck must match the design in order to fit perfectly when connecting the last deck of the cable-stayed bridge. December 16, 2008 is a historic day in the construction of Incheon Bridge. This is because it is the day when the last deck of the cable-stayed bridge is connected.
