Karamatsu in Nagano Prefecture is popular among the Northern Alps as a relatively easy mountain that can be climbed in a day, even by beginners. Ropeways and lifts extend from the foot of the mountain, and the trekking course to Happoike is famous. This time, we challenged Mt. Karamatsu, which is further from Happoike, at 2,696m. We started climbing by taking the special early morning service of the Kurobishi No. 3 lift at 5:00. On the way, we enjoyed the beautiful Happoike pond, where the peaks are reflected on the lake surface, passed through the autumn leaves, took a break in the snowfields that remain even in autumn, and finally headed for Mt. Karamatsu. The ridgeline at the tree line was very beautiful, and at the summit, we were so impressed by the spectacular view that it blew away all our fatigue. We used the Kurobishi lift to get to Mt. Karamatsu. The course time was about 8 hours (not including the time to ride the lift).
