Winter has finally arrived this year. On such cold days, we long for a warm bonfire, but humans are not the only ones who warm themselves on cold days. At the Japan Monkey Center in Inuyama, Aichi Prefecture, monkeys were gathered around a bonfire. Yakushima macaques are supposed to be afraid of fire, but this has been a seasonal winter feature here for 65 years. It started when the monkeys gathered around the bonfire where the staff were trying to warm themselves. In their quest for a warm spot, they sometimes even engage in a "spot-taking battle." Then, all of a sudden, the monkeys started moving at once. The staff took out roasted sweet potatoes from the bonfire. They were being served to the monkeys. The monkeys were delighted with the hot roasted sweet potatoes! Some of the monkeys were a little too hot, so they put the sweet potatoes down to cool before eating them, and some monkeys washed the freshly roasted sweet potatoes in the water of the pond. This is also a way to cool the sweet potatoes, but sometimes they drop them into the pond... You can see "Monkeys Warming themselves by the Bonfire" on weekends and holidays until January 26, 2025. It will be held every day from January 1 (Wednesday, holiday) to January 5. *Will proceed even if it rains, but will be canceled in the event of severe weather ■CTV NEWS Official Website https://news.ntv.co.jp/n/ctv ■Twitter / chukyotv_news ■TikTok / ctv_news ■LINE NEWS https://line.me/R/ti/p/%40oa-ctvnews ■For questions, concerns or investigation requests, contact "Anata no Naka ni Chuusha Chuusha"! https://www.ctv.co.jp/interview/ ■Submit photos, videos and more in "Catch!
