Each of his books, and even statements, ignited heated discussions in Poland. He has received numerous awards for his work, including: the Kościelski Foundation Award (1967), the Stanisław Vincenz Award (1984), the Zygmunt Hertz Literary Award (1986), the Nike Award (2003), and in 2015 the Julian Tuwim Award and the Literary Award of the Capital City of Warsaw, which he refused to accept for political reasons. In 2016 he was honored with the Lech Kaczyński Award. In 2022, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland — in a resolution adopted by acclamation on February 9 — commemorated the Poet and recalled his outstanding creative achievements. ????
