More than half of the 37 names indicted by the Federal Police in the coup investigation are military personnel. During the investigation into the coup plot involving Jair Bolsonaro and the high-ranking members of the Armed Forces, the PF obtained audio recordings that expose in detail the plan to keep the former president in power and break with the Democratic State after the 2022 election. Conversations that make it clear how, more than 30 years after the end of the military regime, the authoritarian spirit is still present in some members of the Armed Forces. To analyze the reasons why ideas of rupture and authoritarianism still survive in the barracks, Natuza Nery interviews Carlos Fico, professor of Brazilian history at UFRJ.
