The Mil V-12 (better known as the Mi-12) is a heavy transport helicopter created in the USSR in the late 1960s. The V-12 is the brainchild of the Mil design bureau and was created as a heavy transport for the transportation of heavy and large-sized military equipment on par with military transport aircraft. The result of this concept was a helicopter that was truly amazing in size, weight and carrying capacity. The V-12 is the largest rotary-wing machine ever built and flown. In terms of dimensions, it is comparable to large aircraft, and in terms of weight, it is many times greater than any other helicopter, including modern ones. A distinctive feature is the transverse arrangement of the power plant - two pairs of engines and propellers are mounted on the tips of a large reverse-tapered wing. The V-12 has a large fuselage, a double-deck crew cabin and a cargo cabin similar in size to the cabin of the then giant - the An-22 Antey.
