The exceptional racing driver Rolf Stommelen only started motorsports at the age of 21 in a hill climb. He quickly landed as a works driver for Porsche and was soon in Formula 1. Stommelen had a fatal accident on April 24, 1983 in a sports car race in Riverside (USA).
