Very valuable musicians accompanied Mehmet Güreli in the recordings; Emre Karabulut on guitar, Ekin Bilgin on double bass, Erdem Göymen on drums. ——————————— Mehmet Güreli is a unique artist who has achieved success in different artistic areas of life. Güreli's enthusiasm for creation has brought him to a difficult but distinguished point filled with music, literature, cinema and painting. He was born in 1949 in Istanbul and grew up in a family involved in art. He studied at the Austrian High School, attended the Philosophy Department of the Faculty of Letters at Istanbul University for two years, and then worked as a journalist for the Hürriyet newspaper. He first encountered Cahiers du Cinéma when he was only 10 years old, and from that moment on he fell in love with cinema with an ever-increasing passion. Films are shaped by a different aesthetic through his eyes. The richness of music and the visual world are the basic elements of his stories. He always respects his masters and does not hesitate to reveal the rare characteristics of the sources he draws from, including literary writers. Mehmet Güreli, as an actor, took part in the series “İkinci Bahar”, and in the films “Gönül Yarası”, “Kişe Memuru”, “Av Mevsimi”, “Yemekteydik ve Karar Verdim”. He shot four documentaries, two short films and two feature films. His first experience in painting was comics, all of his paintings are figurative. The human figure that stands out in Güreli’s paintings tells the story of the alienation and loss of the city people. This story reveals itself as the city people’s cinema scenes from the last century. He used his own unique method of combining cinema and painting by decorating his paintings with his favorite movie posters. The master artist was influenced by expressionism and tended to be a colorist in painting. In his paintings where he used oil paints and watercolors, instead of reflecting the game with color and light like an expressionist, Mehmet Güreli skillfully and secretly places them in the painting like an impressionist and shows different reflections of light. Supporting the use of light and color with his multi-artist passion is another special aspect of his character. Sometimes he hides the details of his paintings in the eyes of his characters, sometimes he places them between the lights and sometimes in the credits. In Güreli's paintings, women and men always represent a character; a Femme Fatale or a detective, a murderer, an innocent or a victim... The artist does not dig into the inner worlds of the women and men he projects on the canvas... On the contrary, he wants his audience to imagine or feel the inner worlds of these characters. Because Güreli reflects his value for the act of existence in his paintings. Güreli is among the most productive and successful painters
