Tuesday 5 June was the day: The Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology was officially opened by Queen Máxima. All knowledge and expertise in the field of childhood cancer now comes together in one hospital in Utrecht. In this way, every sick child in the Netherlands receives the best care and the chance of survival increases. After Queen Máxima unveiled a statue, the opening was immediately celebrated with a performance by singer Maan and the well-known children's choir Kinderen Voor Kinderen. DJs Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano were also present. They have become ambassadors of the Center. Pediatric oncologist Rob Pieters also speaks in this video. He took the initiative for the Princess Máxima Center 12 years ago with a group of parents and healthcare professionals. For him, it is a dream come true. We also spoke to the parents of Thomas (5). Ellen and Maarten were told a year and a half ago that their son Thomas had neuroblastoma. Thomas is now doing better and received his last treatments at the Princess Máxima Center.
