Marina Abramović is without doubt one of the most important artists of our time. She made art history with her legendary performances. Born in Belgrade in 1946, from the 1960s onwards she developed into one of the most radical performance artists in the world. Her work can currently be discovered in a comprehensive retrospective at the Kunsthaus Zurich. Her autobiography "Through Walls Walking" was published in 2016. The title says it all: since her twenties, she has repeatedly exposed herself to extreme situations and invited the audience to become part of these transgressions: to inflict violence on her, to observe her for days as she sleeps, showers or stands against the wall, or to sit opposite her in silence. In this way, the audience is supposed to look into their own inner abysses and ultimately be transformed. Abramović now also shares her experiences in courses and books in which she encourages people to count grains of rice, walk backwards through the forest or remain silent.
