JOIN THE WAITING LIST FOR LIVING ON INCOME: https://r.vocemaisrico.com/9e5e5eba43 How do you react when you notice, in general, what is happening in the world? ???? Between pessimists and revolted people on the one hand and optimists with a sparkle in their eyes on the other, we are part of a whole. However, many are those who try to witness the spectacle of life without great illusions, with the constant reminder of its finitude. After all, we are all mortal - “Memento mori”. This behavior, combined with the faithful search for knowledge, the focus on issues over which you have control and the distancing from superficial and illusory issues, is characteristic of a philosophical movement that emerged in Ancient Greece and that echoes to this day: Stoicism. This philosophy, one of the most influential in Antiquity and whose central idea is focused on an accommodation to nature, since one has no control over it, remains relevant. This is because Stoic thought teaches human beings how to deal with adversity and leads them to make more prudent decisions. After all, “the wise man does not rebel against nature” (Seneca). But what exactly is under our control? To what extent can Stoic behavior be confused with passivity or complacency? How, in a practical way, can Stoicism help us deal with life’s adversities? To answer these and other questions, we invited Clóvis de Barros Filho to episode 74 of the Os Sócios podcast. We will talk about what Stoicism is, how to use this philosophical current in personal life and business, what are the advantages and disadvantages of Stoic thought and much more.
