The staging of Friedrich Schiller's classic romantic tragedy "Maria Stuart" on the stage of Atelier 212 on November 13, 1994 caused an avalanche of comments from the theater public at the time. Those comments ranged from complete denial and suspicion of the new repertoire policy of the Atelje 212 theater, which until then was based on everything else and not on the interpretation of classical texts, to accepting such a conception of the repertoire and providing support to Ljubomir Muci Draškić both as manager and director of this performances. Schiller's text abounds with many thematic lines - from the conflict between Catholic and Protestant ideas to the personal destinies of the two queens. Draškić's direction was stylized in the conception of the play space, more baroque in the conception of costumes and based above all on the play and dominance of two actresses - Svetlana Bojković in the role of Elizabeth of England and Dara Džokić in the role of Mary Stuart. Both actresses, each in their own way and each using different acting tools, dominated this performance, which, regardless of some restrained criticism, marked the nineties of the 20th century at the Atelier 212 theater. The performance was recorded for television in 1996. Label and copyright: Radio-television of Serbia Any copying of video and/or audio recordings and placement on other channels is prohibited!
