For information, Malays actually started living in Mecca about 200 years ago. Most of them came to perform Hajj and Umrah and then decided to stay to study religion. They are from the archipelago, including Asia, Indonesia and southern Thailand. It is estimated that there are around 50,000 Malay community here. They used to sit around the sacred mosque, but when the sacred mosque was expanded, they were moved, especially in Jabal Ajiad.
