It is not just any house, it is the baroque gem between the Dresden Zwinger and the Residenzschloss: the Grandhotel Taschenbergpalais Dresden. Its location in the historic old town is priceless, as is its reputation. Numerous celebrities from Barack Obama to Elton John, Queen Beatrix, Helmut Schmidt, Vladimir Putin and Sting have slept, eaten, laughed, loved and dreamed in the house. In January 2023, the hotel closed its luxurious rooms and suites and sold the furniture in order to undergo a comprehensive renovation. Just in time for the Semperoper Ball in February 2024, it will reopen its doors to welcome guests and Dresden residents.
