Buy a new kitchen and have it planned and built according to your own preferences and wishes? Andreas and Kathrin from Lower Bavaria have made this dream come true. They had a kitchen studio plan and install a completely new and individually designed kitchen in their newly renovated house. With a total price of €24,300, Andreas and Kathrin's kitchen is already in the luxury kitchen segment. For comparison: Prices for a kitchen start at around €1,000 - but you only pay that for a simple kitchen unit. Small fitted kitchens cost around €5,000, fitted kitchens with high-end equipment cost up to €20,000 and luxury kitchens start at around €20,000 with no upper limit. Three factors are crucial for the total price of a kitchen: the size of the kitchen, the material (of the cabinets and fronts) and the appliances. Andreas and Kathrin opted for an individually designed carpenter's kitchen from Beer Küchenmanufaktur. Since high-quality materials and wood were used for the kitchen, the material costs are the highest. For appliances such as a hob, extractor hood, dishwasher and refrigerator, the two agreed on standard equipment. Their advantage: In the pantry connected to the kitchen, there is still enough space to pimp up the kitchen. There is room for a second refrigerator with a freezer compartment or a microwave, for example. The integrated door to the pantry was a special request that the two of them indulged in. Good idea, right? They also had a second faucet installed that has an integrated carbon filter. What did Kathrin and Andreas cost? → Planning costs with kitchen manufacturer: €2,400 → Assembly costs (two fitters): €3,000 → Material costs: €13,846 → Extra door to the pantry: €1,100 → Kitchen appliances (including second faucet with carbon filter) €3,254 → New pots & pans: €700 Andreas and Kathrin are taking most of the kitchen utensils from their old kitchen, which meant they could save money here. They bought new pots and pans for the induction cooker. The old pots were from their student days and not suitable for induction. Andreas and Kathrin do some of the manual work in the kitchen themselves for cost reasons, such as attaching the splash guard to the wall. That's Is it worth it with Sophie.
