Discussion on the pallet with Lukáš Machal, Secretary General of the Service Office of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic. At the beginning of the interview, the moderator noted that the leadership of the Ministry of Culture vigorously promotes the program statement of the government, which runs into opposition from the progressive-liberal opposition. When asked whether it is possible to work normally in such an atmosphere, Machala replied that miners, rescuers and soldiers have significantly more difficult conditions for their work. It is our mission, therefore we can handle any pressure and senseless hatred, he said. The moderator continued that he heard that not all employees of the ministry are identified with the intentions of his leadership. The guest admitted that some of the employees are not loyal to the management and put "logs under his feet", which they expected after taking office. As he added, most of the workers comply with the civil service law and do their job well, for which he thanked them. He admitted that there is a general lack of experts in various fields in Slovakia - not only in the ministries. In the next part of the interview, he addressed the issue of Slovak Radio and Television and Radio. He commented on the fact that four months after the adoption of the Act on STVR, the members of parliament still did not elect the remaining five members of the nine-member STVR Council (four of whom had already been appointed by the Ministry of Culture according to the law) by saying that he did not understand the actions of some Hlas-SD ministers and other persons from the environment of this party. They block the vote on council members by nominating unacceptable persons to the council, who reject both Smer-SSD and SNS, in violation of coalition agreements. This is the former minister of culture from the time of Radič's government, Daniel Krajcer, and the former head of the RTVS Council, Igor Gallo. He asked if these Hlas politicians would be able to look their voters in the eye, who also demanded changes in RTVS. According to him, the longer the election of the board, which is supposed to elect the general director of STVR, is delayed, the more difficult the situation in the institution will be next year. He added that if it is possible to allow the STVR Council in December, the new general director can be elected by the council at the end of January 2025 at the earliest. Currently, RTVS does not meet the criteria of a public broadcaster, he reminded. He expects that after the new management takes over, television and radio will begin to function professionally following the example of other public law institutions abroad, and political activism in reporting will turn into real journalism. In addition to the Fund for the Support of Art and the Audiovisual Fund, according to Machal, the Department of Culture is also preparing the reform of another public fund - the Fund for the Support of National Minorities - negotiations are currently taking place with representatives of national minorities, many of whom are not satisfied with the functioning of the fund so far. It is about ensuring that all funds, paid for by people's taxes, work efficiently and fairly. The ministry will publish some cases of clientelism and manipulation with the money of the mentioned funds, when meaningless projects were financed through them "so that some people can live royally". He also touched on the criticism of the opposition, non-governmental organizations and the media for dismissing the heads of organizations directly managed by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic. He noted that the former Minister of Culture, Milan Kňažko, within a few days of taking office, not only dismissed all the general directors of the department, but also proceeded to the general dismissal of the statutory officers of all state cultural institutions in Slovakia. "Today, when we dismissed seven charter members from 29 directly managed organizations in a year, which is less than a quarter, the sky is falling and our galaxy is falling into a black hole," said Machala. The Minister of Culture, Martina Šimkovičová, has the right to legitimately exercise her powers if someone fails in terms of management or the ministry has a different idea about the functioning of that organization, he emphasized. In the case of the appointment of Zuzana Ťapáková to the leadership of the SND, he is satisfied with her performance so far, while she manages the institution independently, the ministry does not interfere in her work in any way. He denied that there was any censorship in the national theater. The conclusion of the interview was the topic of the upcoming amendment to the Language Act from the workshop of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic. The adoption of the amendment contains the program statement of the government, while in this case it is about strengthening the position of Slovak as the state language. He stated that in recent years, the position of the literary language as a state-building and integrating element has been declining, and English, German, and Czech have a strong influence, especially on the younger generation. Without the Slovak language, the Slovak nation will not be a Slovak nation, thinks Machala, who does not want to misrepresent the legacy of Ľudovít Štúr. The task of the law is to ensure that all citizens of the Slovak Republic have a thorough command of the state language, and that the influence of foreign language cultures, especially often meaninglessly used anglicisms, is eliminated as much as possible in public relations and in publications, media and advertising.
