Which generation do you belong to? The economic miracle generation, the boomers or Generation X? Such generation labels arise when sociologists identify historical or cultural peculiarities for an age group that shape the zeitgeist and thus also political preferences. My generation, Generation X, was shaped by the triumph of computers, later the fall of the Berlin Wall and the unification of Europe. Our zeitgeist was defined by personal and political freedom, a long period of peace and increasing environmental awareness. Today, other topics dominate: war and peace, migration and security and again the fear of being left behind economically. And what does that mean politically?
