About :

At the beginning of my recovery, I couldn't walk. I had to learn from scratch. It was unclear how this training would end. Would I walk like before? I gradually restored walking in three stages. It didn't work out any other way. In this video, I used exercises and tricks at each stage. This knowledge will help you learn to walk from scratch. Well, for those whose walking skill has already been more or less restored, my experience is also necessary. It will allow you to significantly improve your walking and make it free and easy. It's real! As the skill was restored, my walking requirements changed three times, and radically at that. Because the very concept of "WALKING" was changing all the time. At first, I wanted to WALK SOMETHING. At least take a step. As soon as I started taking my first steps, I wanted to WALK CONFIDENTLY. And it worked out. Not quickly, but it worked out. And then a new goal appeared again))) - I decided to learn to walk easily, without thinking WALKING AUTOMATICALLY In order... STAGE ONE GOAL: "WALK AT LEAST SOMEHOW" (UNCONSCIOUS WALKING). It was the most difficult for me for three reasons: - there was no balance - I did not understand what I needed to do to take a step - weak leg muscles and the whole body after several months spent in bed I restored my balance with special gymnastics. It is not restored quickly. While my balance was crappy, I walked with support. We used walkers. Because they are symmetrical. Weak muscles. I had to strengthen not only my legs, but also my body, arms... Links to the exercises that helped me in the comments under the video. RESULT OF THE FIRST STAGE: I began to take my first steps around the house. I did not really understand what I needed to do to walk, but I remembered and did what I remembered. This stage took about two months. STAGE TWO: GOAL: WALK CONFIDENTLY and INTELLIGENTLY (COGNETIC WALKING) This is the longest stage. It took me three and a half years to be able to walk 5-7 km at a time. Difficulties: -endurance -multitasking -variety -refusal to rely on support Endurance. At first, I had enough strength for 2-3 minutes of walking (10-15 steps). Every day I added a step or two (I recorded it in a diary). If you add two steps a day for 5 months, you will have about 300 steps. This is how endurance is developed. What at first seemed impossible became possible. Multitasking. When walking, I could do only one thing - walk))) Any distraction (external noise, an oncoming person/car, a barking dog, a sharp sound ...) and I stumbled, fell. This is not possible. While walking, you need to learn to do a bunch of parallel tasks (look around, talk, get distracted, hold something in your hands...) I counted out loud while walking from 1 to 100. Then vice versa from 100 to 1. Rotated my wrist while walking (wrapped up a light bulb) Touched my nose with my fingertips one by one. When my left hand started working, I transferred an object from hand to hand while walking (a glove, an apple, a support stick...) This is how I learned to walk and do something at the same time. Variety of walking I learned to walk on different surfaces (asphalt/dirt/snow, bumps...) Every 10 steps: Changed the pace fast/slow/very slowly Changed the type of walking forward facing/right side/left/back forward. - walking with eyes closed/open every two steps - walking in the dark (not in complete darkness of course))) in the evening) Started going outside. For some reason, I lost my balance there. This didn't happen at home. Used ski poles for support. TWO so there is no body tilt. It is convenient to use Nordic walking poles. They are telescopic and adjustable in height. Then I started carrying them in my hands, but did not lean on them. Then I gave them up altogether. RESULT OF THE SECOND STAGE: I learned to walk confidently and consciously, but not yet freely. I clearly understood what I needed to do, I thought through every movement, every step in advance. And then I did them. This stage took about three and a half years. STAGE THREE: GOAL: WALK EASILY, WITHOUT EXTRA MOVEMENTS, WITHOUT MISTAKES, WITHOUT STIFFULNESS. AT THE SAME TIME, DO NOT THINK ABOUT WALKING. SUBCONSCIOUS WALKING (how we breathe) (AUTOMATIC WALKING) Difficulties: -quality of walking -stiffness -gait -automatism Quality of walking. I filmed myself on video. I realized that I walk like a 100 year old grandfather))) Small, stunted steps -. Crazy and tense face. A sea of mistakes in the movement of legs and arms. Upset. Imagined that things were better. I walk - I take pictures on the phone - I see mistakes - I correct them - I walk again - REPEAT 5-6 times The mistakes go away Stiffness. Stiff body, arms, neck ... While walking, quickly turn the head to the right / left, up and down, bend to the side at the right / left shoulder - tension and stiffness go away.
