Raven van Dorst walks past Kees' house at night, who is still watching television on the couch. 67-year-old Kees has emphysema, which makes him very short of breath and makes breathing painful. He got the disease because he smoked cigarettes all his life. As soon as Kees was diagnosed, he threw all his cigarettes in the trash. Because of his lung disease, he can no longer go outside and lives in his living room. Kees feels that he no longer has any quality of life and has therefore chosen to commit euthanasia. In doing so, he leaves his four children and eight grandchildren without him. Raven is moved by his story. Kees has a positive view of his situation. He sees euthanasia as a 'new adventure'.
