It seemed like we would never see another 400cc inline-four sportbike again. However, 30 years later, the idea is back thanks to the Kawasaki Ninja ZX–4R and ZX-4RR, which were officially unveiled on February 1, 2023. The new sportbike’s power surpasses even the best of its 1990s predecessors. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, such four-cylinder sports motorcycles as Honda VFR400R and CBR400RR, Kawasaki ZXR400, Suzuki GSX–R400 and Yamaha FZR400R were the pinnacle of motorcycle technology. They combined the characteristics of a superbike chassis with compact dimensions and powerful engines that epitomized the Japanese penchant for miniaturization.And it seemed that we would never see at least one more 400 cc sport bike with an inline four.However, 30 years later, the idea returned thanks to the Kawasaki Ninja ZX–4R and ZX-4RR, which were officially unveiled on February 1, 2023.The power of the new sport bike surpasses even the best of its predecessors of the 1990s.
