Kastiman Kartataroeno - 2nd place Award 2017 - 'Most sustainable SME farmer 2017 in Suriname' On November 17, 2017, the award for the most sustainable SME agricultural company in Suriname was presented for the 6th time. This initiative of the d'ONS foundation was made possible with the support of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (Suriname) and the sponsors Varross NV, Koppert Cress BV and Rijk Zwaan. This year, the prizes were sponsored by the companies Varross NV from Suriname and Rijk Zwaan from the Netherlands. There were 15 entries this year, of which 6 companies largely met the sustainability criteria. Of the 6 companies visited, 3 companies came out on top. This year, the winners are; number 1: Papeeta Basket; number 2: Karta's gruntu and number 3: Landbouwbedrijf Soekhai. These companies come from the districts of Wanica, Saramacca and Para.
