Vehicles that work with semi-trailers and are connected to them using fifth-wheel coupling devices (FWD) are called truck tractors. The KAMAZ-5410 belongs to this type of vehicle. For almost 50 years, this vehicle has been plying the roads not only of Russia, but also of four dozen other countries around the world. Only the VAZ-2101, known as the "kopeck", can boast such an impressive "experience". What is the secret of the longevity of the KAMAZ-5410 truck tractor? Let's figure it out. History of the KAMAZ-5410 It was planned that the production of tractors would be established at the ZIL plant: in the early 1970s, they even began testing prototypes. However, something went wrong, and the project was transferred to the Kama Automobile Plant. The vehicle was created on the basis of a three-axle heavy-duty truck, which was produced under the index 5320. Serial production of the KAMAZ-5410 truck tractor started in 1976. But Soviet citizens were able to see the first example two years earlier - at a demonstration on November 7, which was timed to coincide with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Soviet automobile industry. The vehicle was assembled in the experimental shop of the plant on the Kama River. In 1975, when the 30th anniversary of the Victory was celebrated, a column of 10 trucks appeared at the parade - according to the number of hero cities of the USSR. It was an impressive sight, and the story of its creation is very touching: workers voluntarily worked a 100-day shift to assemble these vehicles in the experimental shop. KAMAZ-5410 received the State Quality Mark not only for this history, but also for its technical characteristics and reliability. Such a vehicle cannot be of poor quality. It was in great demand in the national economy and remained on the conveyor belt for a record 30 years. If production had not ended, the fleet of tractors could have amounted to about 280 thousand units of equipment.
