Fifteen selected boys between the ages of 17 and 20 spend an hour and a half a week studying Japanese and arithmetic under the guidance of a teacher dispatched to a special room. In addition, the school provides boys who wish to do so with worksheets for homework, helping them relearn. This initiative, the first of its kind in the nation, is supported by members of the "#JobParent Project," a group of companies and organizations that have supported the rehabilitation of former inmates by providing them with housing and jobs for the past 10 years. We have supported the rehabilitation of many ex-offenders so far, but the retention rate of young people is low, and many boys commit crimes again. Therefore, the goal is to equip boys in juvenile detention centers with basic academic skills and regain their confidence. We also connect them to employment after release, and support their rehabilitation while reintegrating into society.
