About :

The trial, filmed in Saint-Omer, is of a particularly strong emotional intensity. Firstly because the victim is a baby less than thirteen months old. Secondly because the accused in the dock is none other than her mother. She disputes the facts with which she is accused. Finally because, behind the criminal qualification retained by the courts, "intentional violence against a minor resulting in mutilation or permanent disability" lies what is called "shaken baby syndrome". According to the High Authority for Health, each year there are around a hundred infants who are victims of this non-accidental head trauma. And it is up to the courts to find the person or persons responsible for this crime and to judge them. The sentence incurred varies according to the consequences for the baby, disability or death. In this case, the 9 jurors and the three professional magistrates of the Pas-de-Calais Assize Court have to decide on the guilt of a mother, already sentenced at first instance to 8 years in prison.
