The 315 series is a new train model from JR Central that was introduced to replace the 211, 213, and 311 series, which were manufactured by the early 1990s. First, the 0 series, an 8-car train, began operation on the Chuo-Sai Line in March 2022. The 3000 series, a 4-car train, will then begin operation on the Kansai Line in June 2023 and on Taketoyo Line direct trains in March 2024. The 3000 series will also be introduced as a U-series train in the Shizuoka area, and will begin operation on June 1, 2024.
