VENÁTKY NAD JIZERO The Jizera microregion is located in the southern tip of the Liberec district and is adjacent to three districts: Jablonec nad Nisou, Semily and Mladá Boleslav. At the same time, it lies on the border of the Liberecký and Středočeský regions. It is adjacent to microregions in the Liberec region - Podještědí in the north, Podkozákovsko in the east. It springs under Smrkem in the Jizera Mountains, then flows through the Great Jizerská meadow (National Nature Reserve Rašeliniště Jizera), forming the Czech-Polish border for about 15 km. Previously, this border was formed by its entire upper course, after constant and very persistent border disputes in the years 1537--1845 about which of the two springs on the Smrk is the right one, today the state border runs through the intersection between them, and the main spring is considered on the Polish side. It then flows along the border of the Krkonoše National Park, Podkrkonoší, and then crosses the Ještěd-Kozák ridge. Throughout this time, the river has a torrential character, until Turnov, sections with a significant drop and stony riverbed alternate with calmer sections. The smaller, left arm in Turnov is called Malá Jizera. From Turnova Jizera, it flows through open countryside, where it has a rather gentle slope. After 164 km, the river flows into the Elbe in Lázní Toušeň between Brandýs nad Labe and Čelákovice. Turnov (German: Turnau) is a town in the Semily district. It is located in the Jičín Hills at the southwestern foot of the Ještěd-Kozák Ridge, on the edge of the Bohemian Paradise PLA. The Jizera River flows through the city, dividing the city into two parts.
