On August 3, 1597, Admiral Yi Sun-sin, who was released from the punishment of Baekuijonggun and became the commander of the three provinces' naval forces again, headed straight to Gurye in Jeolla Province. Jeolla Province was the best place to rebuild the fallen navy. Admiral Yi Sun-sin arrived at Seokjugwan in Gurye with nine military officers and six soldiers. Seokjugwan had long been a strategic point for defending against the Japanese pirates coming from Jinju to Gurye and Namwon. After meeting with Lee Won-chun, the magistrate of Gurye, and receiving a report on the movement of the Japanese army, Admiral Yi Sun-sin arrived at the Gurye County Office around dusk and unpacked outside the north gate of the castle. Here, Son In-pil and his eldest son Son Eung-nam came to see Admiral Yi Sun-sin with grain and dried fish. The dried fish, which contained the hope of rebuilding the Joseon navy, gave Admiral Yi great courage and strength. On August 4, 1597, Yi Sun-sin left Son In-pil's house and headed to Gokseong. Yi Sun-sin, who spent a night in the deserted county office after all the people fled, was able to meet the refugees at Okwa. Yi Sun-sin comforted the people who had gathered, and some of the young men among the refugees volunteered to join the Joseon navy. Yi Sun-sin, who had decided on Buyuchang in Suncheon, spent a night at Seokgokgangjeong, which is Neungpajeong on the banks of the Daehwang River. On August 8, 1597, Yi Sun-sin left Seokgok and headed for Buyuchang. He was greatly disheartened to learn that Buyuchang, the rear supply warehouse, had been burned down, and he recorded his dismal feelings in his Nanjung Ilgi. When Yi Sun-sin arrived at Suncheonbueupseong, he could not hide his joy when he saw a large number of weapons pouring out of the armory while looking around the castle. As he acquired weapons and joined the monks and volunteers from the area, the Joseon navy gradually took shape. The next day, Yi Sun-sin left Suncheonbueupseong and arrived in Nakan, where he was warmly welcomed by many people. At that time, when the village elders offered Yi Sun-sin the rice wine they had prepared with difficulty, Yi Sun-sin accepted the wine with a heart of regret and joy. Seeing the people who had lost their land and were suffering during the war, Yi Sun-sin must have had many thoughts. On August 9, 1597, Yi Sun-sin passed Beolgyo and arrived at Joyang-hyeon. He inspected Joyangchang, a military supply warehouse, and fortunately, the military rations were fully stored there. Leading the soldiers whose morale had been boosted by the military rations, Yi Sun-sin headed to the house of Yangsanhang in Bakgok Village, where he had a long relationship. The house of Yangsanhang was empty, but the granary was full of food. After staying at the house of Yangsanhang, Yi Sun-sin headed to Boseong-eupseong and arrived at Yeolseonru. Yeolseonru is a pavilion with five rooms in the front and four rooms on the side. It is known that Yi Sun-sin stayed here and submitted a report arguing that the navy could not be abolished and wrote the poem 'Hansandoga'. Yi Sun-sin, who ordered Bae Seol to wait for the front line at Gunyeong Gumi to secure the front line, headed to Gunyeong Gumi, the last destination inland. However, he did not meet Bae Seol there, and he was unable to secure the front line. #Imjin Waeran #Yi Sun-sin #History #Righteous Army #Jeollanam-do
