By the end of this video, you'll know everything you need to make the perfect tea for yourself. So sit back, relax, and let us show you how to Ivan-tea was very popular in Rus' for many centuries. We can judge this by the mentions of it in chronicles, starting as early as the beginning of the 12th century. Earlier texts about it simply have not survived, so it is impossible to say how long ago our ancestors learned to make tea from fireweed. But since there was simply no other tea then, I suppose that everyone drank Ivan-tea instead of the black and green tea we are accustomed to now. Tea, traditional for our generation, was first brought to us by the Chinese in 1462. Ivan III treated it with disdain. The same thing happened when in 1638 the ambassador Vasily Starkov brought four pounds of tea leaves to Moscow as a gift to Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich from Altyn Khan. So overseas teas did not take root in Rus' very quickly. (Koporsky tea is healthier than overseas ones.) Mentions of Ivan-tea have long been associated with the fortress in Koporye - a place near St. Petersburg. It was there, in Koporye, that our distant ancestors founded the production of fermented Ivan-tea, which is why another name for the drink is "Koporsky tea". Judging by ancient chronicles, in Rus', a drink made from Ivan-tea was used not only during meals, but also to relieve all types of pain. So women drank it to relieve severe contractions. Fireweed leaves were even used to treat the navel of a newborn, to treat various skin diseases, cuts and injuries. To this day, in some villages of Siberia and Altai, Ivan-tea is drunk in glasses. .............................................................................................. / Ivan-tea / ancestral food / Koporsky tea / the best tea / Kovalkov / granulated tea / fermentation / tea selection / fireweed /
