FRYKTORIES, in collaboration with the Association of Evzones Presidential Guard, present the speech: "The Greek helmet in the war of the '40". ( manufactured at the Enamel and Metallurgy factory of Athanasios Kostas in Kea. ) Speaker: MARKOS ANDREOU Chairman of the E.S. Revival Group. 1940. The speech took place in the framework of the two-day conference "200 years of foustanela in the ES" which was organized by the Association of Presidential Guard Belts at the War Museum of Athens. -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- --------------------- BRIEF PRESENTATION The Greek Army during the epic 1940-'41 used three types of helmets: the French Adrian mle-1915, the English MkI and mainly the Greek helmet, which was ordered in 1936 and manufactured in the Enamel and Metallurgy factory of Athanasios Kostas in Kea. Much has been said about the origin and construction of the Greek helmet used by E.S. during the Greco-Italian war, but to date there is no clear documentation of any information regarding this. Since its creation, in 2012, the Revival Group E.S. 1940 began her own historical research to find documented evidence of the origin and manufacture of the Hellenic Helmet of the E.S.. The evidence resulting from this research, documents without doubt that the helmet was entirely manufactured in Greece.
