The brothers managed to conquer the American market in the 90s. Jan: “The company Baan happened to me, I started it on my own. The word vision is bullshit: you learn from your mistakes, which is how you develop. In the early years and the start of the computer era, I went to Silicon Valley where I saw enormous opportunities for technical innovations within Baan. The 90s were heydays in which we competed with software companies SAP, Oracle and Peoplesoft.” First sale In this episode, Jan talks about his first sale, clearing his name, Unicorn Companies and the American market. And only a few succeed. Everyone dreams of an investor, but be careful: it is very easy to throw away your entire company. Jan Baan Jan Baan (1946) is the founder of software company Baan Company. A contract with aircraft manufacturer Boeing brought a breakthrough in 1994. In 1995, Jan Baan, who worked together with his brother Paul, led the company to the stock exchange. He retired in July 1998. He invested in other companies and founded Cordys in 2001.
