In April 2024 I had time for a weekend tour. The plan was to take the train from Hamburg to Flensburg and from there cycle across the Danish islands of Als, Funen, Langeland and Lolland back to Neustadt in Holstein in three days. From there I took the train back to Hamburg. Unfortunately, there was a lot of rain forecast for the first day, but it was supposed to be sunny on the second day. With two batteries I rode the e-bike 120 km from Flensburg to Svendborg on the first day, and on the second day I continued over 130 km to Heiligenhafen. To round off the trip I rode 68 km to Neustadt to the train. Unfortunately, there was still a lot of damage from the severe storm in autumn 2023 on the way and some paths, especially the Baltic Sea Cycle Route in Germany, were still closed. The saddest thing to see were the giant trees on the beach in Sonderburg, which had fallen over a hundred meters onto the beach. It was a great ride and the bad weather and the early time of year at least had the advantage that I was able to cycle on the Gendarmenstieg, among other things. This is actually a hiking trail that runs right along the water. In summer, like many other paths along the promenade, it is definitely not suitable for cycling. On the way, I mainly cycled on the southern part of the N8 cycle path in Denmark. At some point I will have to cycle the other half as well.
