Mike Horn is an explorer-adventurer of Swiss and South African nationality, of Afrikaner culture, residing in Switzerland. From June 1999 to October 2000, he undertook to carry out his project, Latitude Zero: he was the first in the world to travel around the world following the equator, 40,000 km, which he traveled without motorized means of transport. The next stage will see Mike Horn leave Cape Town to sail to Antarctica, which he will cross on skis via the South Pole. After this crossing, he will embark for the Pacific to Asia, via New Zealand, Australia and Papua New Guinea. Once he reaches Asia aboard Pangaea, Mike Horn will once again return to dry land to reach the unconquered peaks of India, before venturing into the tundra of Kamchatka. It will then be time to set sail again towards the Great North. This time, he will cross the Arctic via the North Pole. Once on the other side, Mike Horn will reach Greenland, before ending his great adventure by returning to his starting point, Monaco. The 27,000-kilometre expedition will include 7,000 km covered on skis, pulled by a sail for four months on the Antarctic continent to reach the South Pole. He will pull a sled with 220 kg of equipment across the ice and claims to know nature well enough to feed himself along the way. Mike Horn will also pass through New Zealand, the islands of Papua New Guinea, the Himalayas, Japan and Russia.
