#ayyappan #poet #mukhamukham A. Ayyappan A. Ayyappan was a remarkable poet in the line of poets who gave the impression of modern poetry. Born on 27th October 1949 in Thiruvananthapuram. Father Arumukham, mother Muthammal and only sister Subbalakshmi. Ayyappan's father died prematurely when he was one year old. The poet often recalls that when his mother died when he was fifteen years old, he was thrown into complete orphanhood. He started writing poems while still a student. At the age of 21, he became the publisher and editor of 'Aksharam' magazine. Worked as a correspondent for 'Bombayvedi'. Then he worked as a proofreader at Nava Yugam Press for some time. His poems were not circular. But the poet believed that only one who knows the cycle can write poetry without rhyme. The lonely mind and fragmented thoughts made the poet's pen incredibly sharp. To My Coffin Bearers, Yajna, The Sun-Eating Bird, Greshamame Sakshi, Buddha and the Goat Kid, Days at Chitaroga Hospital, The Serpent Without a Burrow, Wounded Titles (Samagrasamahara), Gresham and Tears, Coal Colored People (Samahara) made many poetic contributions to the language. Ayyappan. Ayyappan, who won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 1999, was awarded the Aasan Poetry Prize in 2010. Death took him away on October 21, 2010. Ayyappan was 61 years old when he died.
