The new season in Ancient Gerulata begins on Saturday, April 1, 2023. As part of the permanent exhibition called Gerulata on the Borders of the Roman Empire, an interactive virtual 3D model will be added, which will show visitors the appearance of the camp and civilian settlement during the 3rd-4th centuries. The 3D model will offer the possibility of a virtual walk around the camp, interesting information about the life of its population and digitized archaeological finds. The Roman camp (castle) Gerulata, once part of the Danube part of the Limes romanus – the protective line of the Roman Empire, is one of the most important exhibitions of the Museum of the City of Bratislava and, from 2021, part of the UNESCO world heritage. The fund for the support of art provided MMB with a financial subsidy, and with co-financing from the museum, a unique project could be created that makes cultural heritage accessible in an attractive and contemporary way. MMB has the ambition to continue to develop the project and expand the created 3D model with additional functionality and possibilities of presentation and use, e.g. in the field of education. It also plans to increase the quality of the visitor experience of this historically significant and visitor-attractive location. The Art Support Fund is the main partner of the project.
