I installed a switchblade key in a Fiat Doblô that uses the same key model as the Palio and Uno. I used the same spare key that was stored and unused. I chose to use the spare key because in addition to reusing the same blade and the key code chip, it also has the advantage of not needing another professional locksmith to do this. The first thing you should do when using a key blade and code chip is to test in the car whether the code light will go out when you turn on the ignition and whether the engine will start when you start it. After checking that the key was working, we began removing the two components to place them in the new pocket knife key. The pocket knife key comes with a free position to place the new blade, and in this case, I removed the blade from the spare key with the help of a hacksaw, very carefully sawing through the plastic part of the spare key until only the metal part was left. Once the metal blade was removed, I made a small cut until it fit into the free position on the new pocket knife key. Once fitted, simply insert the locking pin so that the blade remains permanently secure. Now it is time to install the key's transponder code chip, which informs the car's injection control unit that this key is indeed enabled in this car to start the engine. The chip is made of glass and is the size of a grain of rice. To remove it from the old spare key, I used the same saw and made a slot in the key to access the chip and push it out of the key. Then I could put it in the new pocket knife key and applied a little white glue to keep it in place and prevent it from falling out of position. With the key ready to start the car, it was time to code the alarm control that exists in the same pocket knife key. This FKS CR962 pocket knife key is perfectly compatible with FKS alarms and also with other alarm models from other brands. In our case, this Fiat Doblô is equipped with an FKS 902 alarm and to code the pocket knife key control, the procedure was the same as for a regular control. Just turn on the ignition and go to the programming button located on the alarm control unit installation harness. Press the button until you hear 10 beeps on the siren. After that, press the 2 alarm activation and deactivation buttons on the control. The siren will emit a beep confirming that the control was successfully coded. Okay, now all you have to do is test the alarm and start the engine and you're all set. We have a 2002 car with a modern pocketknife key with the same functions as a new car.
